Babyshambles postpone UK tour
Babyshambles have postponed their UK tour organised to promote their forthcoming single 'F*** Forever' - scheduled for release on August 8.
The tour was scheduled to visit a number of venues ahead of the release of the single. The dates have not as yet been rescheduled.
Oasis dropped support act Babyshambles for their concert in Milton Keynes last Saturday after Babyshambles failed to show up for a gig in Southampton on Wednesday, July 6.
The tour dates were: Greenock Town Hall (July 26), Carlisle Brickyard (27), Birmingham Custard Factory (28) Nottingham Rock City (30), Norwich UEA (31), Bristol Carling Academy (August 1), Manchester University (2), Leeds Black Canvas (3), Sheffield The Foundry (4), Shrewsbury Music Hall (5), London Carling Brixton Academy (6). My work has been very formal for a long time, and always about making beautiful images, but the themes keep changing on me. In the beginning, the subject was the color itself. Massive, visceral color referencing nothing but its own hue. Then I was distracted, noticing things I wanted to paint—a window pane, an odd, isolated few square inches of a movie still, plaid, a restaurant awning as seen from the roof of a neighboring building—and I began to create imagery based on life. The forms haven't drastically changed, but this is bad news in the 'painting is itself' crowd, and I'm not good at keeping it a secret. Still, I find it amusing to be a subtle traitor to the modernism, and I like the work. Reinhardt might be genius, but there do exist a large number of beautiful paintings about something.
I'm somewhat at odds as of late, though, as I've only very recently got my studio back together after a year-long haiatus, and I've come to realize that since I last painted, I've fallen under the influence of the rock and roll. It won't sit still for any more still life. It wants to move, spit, snarl, sweat and get loud.
But I have some ideas.

so: kickstart plays our 12 bar show, then two nights of bouncing around england to see baby shambles, a night off, then our death disco show. not fucking bad!
oh. my. god. helen's watching old episodes of bewitched, and that husband guy is seriously pissing me off. his wife has super powers and he tells her not to use them! he still goes to work every fucking day! whiskey tango foxtrot? when your wife can do freakin' magic, winning the lottery is punk! winning it two times is punk! she can stop time! create matter! teleport herself and others! damn! if i were that fuckin' guy, i wouldn't be some asshole conformist control freak! shit! i'd kindly ask, baby? can we get drinks in the future? can my band's rehearsal space float in space in some sci-fi bubble orbiting the goddamned moon!? baby baby please, can i rule the world, just until summer's over? but this... this... fucktard says: no! (like she even obeys!) then puts on his tie and goes off to work for the fucking man! argrhrghrhgr!!!
i hate that guy so much.
bloc party is BORING. so are franz ferdinand, kings of leon and bright eyes. also nine black alps. coldplay sucks. the bravery SUCKS, and so does my chemical romance. kaiser chiefs suck HARD. interpol really, truly sucks. and who the fuck ever asked weezer to make another album? i'd like to poke that asshole right in the eye.
kasabian's ok. i like their record, but always have to remind myself to listen to it... same with ravonettes, the kills and the killers: fine albums, but i don't remember why, or recall any specific tracks or hooks or lyrics...
radiohead are old and boring and have been superseded by coldplay. futureheads are just lame. file under 'weezer'.
ah well. at least the gorillaz don't disappoint. and thank you, little dave grohl, for the latest foo fighters (tho i haven't even made it to the accoustic 'ladies' disc yet), qotsa, and even probot. hell, how can dave and lemmy go wrong?!
the white stripes have always been pretty awesome, but that new one is just...weird.
that's cool, tho. towers of london just released 'fuck it up', and baby shambles are in the studio working on a proper album, and the next single (the official version of 'fuck forever') comes out in five weeks.
hope for the future!
