rnc update
oh. my. god.
paul and i went down for a smoke, and there were about a hundred cops on our corner. then one drove by on a scooter. he actually had a mohawk with a big bald spot in the middle!
then when he stopped, he did a comb-over!!!
awesome!

on the border of safety zone
so far the republican national convention has been a bit of a letdown.
i usally get a car to the office when i have to bring in my bass for practice or soundcheck after work. i've smacked too many people with it on crowded subway cars and such, and i thought that one guy was going to take a swing at me. i was wearing the thing (this was before charlotte) on a shoulder strap and clocked him right in the face while going into a deli. he was pissed. i still feel a little guilty not offering him a shot at me to recompense.
i had no hope of getting to 35th & 7th this morning, tho, and so took the seven train from queens to times square. five cops outside my subway exit, many cops on every corner, cops in s.u.v.s, cops on motorcycles, cops in those little three-wheeled cop-carts, and even secret service guys saying things like delta five, delta five, and nobody searched me! nobody! don't these fools remember all those mobsters and their violin cases?
then at work, i didn't even have to show i.d. to get in the building.
very unsatisfying.

bolton 1, liverpool 0
helen and i haven't had a chance to see the football since the new season started, so i was excited this morning, despite the crushing hangover. the reds didn't take long to kill my enthusiasm.
*sigh*
why do i support this team? it's been about five years now, and as far as i can remember, it was titi camarra that first captured my attention, and he's been gone for ages, first transferring to west ham, then off to some obscure club in the middle east (saudi arabia, maybe). now owen's gone as well to play with beckham (and zidane & ronaldo) for real madrid. good riddance. but beautiful emil heskey's gone now (to birmingham), and danny murphy, too (to charlton). kewell's injured, and diouf's on loan to bolton! who is this team? why do i care that they fuck up? i don't even know them any more!
you'll never walk alone because misery loves company!
helen's spent her time in north london, and her father supported the gunners. i'm so ready to defect...
i mean: arsenal actually wins! can you imagine?

I MISS KERMIT
[repost from old manual-style blog]
fine. it's a blog.
secondlife.com. ok; i went to a wedding party tonight in chinatown. two weddings this weekend, plus moving around the corner and up the stairs. they're renovating our loft. what was illegal is now residential. cancelled the satellite tv. electricity goes off in the old place monday and goes on in the new place monday. i hope the crossover time isn't more than six or eight hours. life without electricity is no good.
so i went to a wedding party tonight. first person there. fuck. i came right on time. i know, because i was There. secondlife.com. they do everything in pacific time. linden servers are in san francisco, i guess. anyway, there was this masters/subs pet show in the adult district, and i showed up three hours early...
i worked with this one male at the wedding party. i worked with more than that, but for this example: he got me high three times! tonight! i didn't remember him, and for that i am a prick. but he got me high three times. for that, respect, thank you! but even tho, in the l.e.s., getting high on the street with no giulianicops taking us in, i was thinking about the pet show.
i showed up just after it finished. fuck! i showed up at the wedding party too early. not desperately early; there was a whole table there for the same party as i was, and they showed up right after i did. i played it cool, tho. reserved. stand-off-ish.
two weddings this weekend. and i have to move. fuck. eric's been out a week already. helen and i just keep squatting amidst the war zone... helen went to double happiness. no! wrong happy! there was no phone reception in happy ending. i never got her message until i went out to have a smoke, which took place after her cab crossed the williamsburg bridge. too far to come back. come back! fuck. look at the watch. fuck. 11:12.
helen, please be awake!
poor love. they're making her work tomorrow at six ai em. she doesn't even have to get up that early on the week-days, and she's corporate! how can they do that to her?
so: i showed up at the pet show late. the master/sub:master/pets had all gone home. i should have stayed in the second life. only i was much, much too early. or i should have stayed in the lower east side. but i missed my wife.
